EXCITING NEWS- LARA WILL BE SHARING DISCLOSURE WORKSHOP SKILLS WITH HIV COMMUNITIES IN EUROPE
Today at AIDS Community Care Montreal, where the Positive Sex workshops were originally developed by members of the HIV community, we finally got to meet Lara who is a close collaborator and contributor with the HIV Disclosure Project. Lara is visiting Montreal from Budapest and got to experience first- hand a mini workshop facilitator training session with Zachary where they reviewed the Canadian Treatment Access Council (CTAC) Positive Sex workshop training manual.
Zachary has participated in and facilitated several Positive Sex workshops and is the “go to” person at ACCM for delivery of workshops in the Montreal area. Because Lara was in town, it was a perfect opportunity to meet with Zachary to receive training as a facilitator to deliver workshops and share skills with broader HIV communities in Europe. Lara will be participating in a full day workshop in September in Montreal before she returns to Budapest.
Canadian Treatment Access Council produced the workshop manual which is available on their website in a downloadable PDF format to share with HIV communities. CTAC is in the process of delivering workshops across Canada to various HIV organizations.
Overall it was a very productive meeting and Lara looks forward to introducing new skills to support people living with HIV internationally, as they struggle with the complexities of disclosing their HIV status to potential sex partners. Congratulations Lara and thank you Zachary for being part of this exciting process.
